Public schools include Bates, Fern Creek, Klondike, Luhr, Price and Smyrna Elementary Schools; Moore Traditional, Myers and Newburg Middle Schools; Fern Creek Traditional and Moore Traditional High Schools. Private and parochial schools serving Fern Creek include St. Bernard’s Catholic School, St. Gabriel’s Catholic School, Valor Traditional Academy, Victory Baptist School, Wheeler Elementary and Whitefield Academy. Higher education in the area is provided by University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky Community Colleges, Jefferson Community College, Bellarmine University and Sullivan University. EVENTS/THINGS TO DO In addition to the “most exciting 2 minutes in sports” of the Derby, the waterfront skyline, the “Louisville Slugger” Museum & Factory, and distilleries that produce 1/3 of the world’s bourbon, Louisville presents a blend of historic charm and college town happenings.
